***Second lp - ex Blackfoot produced By Ricky Medlocke of Lynryd Skynryd/Blackfoot , major sounding lp not demos***
As the story goes, the 80's closed and I presumed somewhat naively that the 90'swould continue to
florish in the same format and fashion that the 70's and 80's had.
In my humble opinion it was a personal adventure and an exciting two decades of talent and music.
Writing for METAL FORCES back in the day, and being able to champion and bring exposure to so many
great bands was, to me, a soul rewarding experience in my life.
It was a pleasure that still remains with me today, when I got to interview MARK WOERPEL in
Metal Forces (No. 50 - Special Collectots Edition in 1990)- a true gentleman aswell as an all-round talented
musician.
To my suprise, the 90's, with it's changing climate in the music industry, saw the unfair demise of
Hair/Rock Metal and WARP DRIVE was another casualty of this time.
Warp Drive could have easily jumped ship for the 90's contemporary sound. Danger Danger, Dokken,
Warrant and Winger are all examples of bands trying to reinvent themselves in a difficult decade.
In 1990, Warp Drive stuck firmly to their faith in the music they believed in and began to record a follow
up to GIMME GIMME.
Ex-Blackfoot and now Lynyrd Skynyrd vocalist/guitarist Rickey Medlocke was handling production and
was co-writing aswell.
The completed album to which is now titled "Something To Believe In" is very appropriate to how rock
music has now become and it's amazing to think it has taken 20+ years to see a CD format on
AOR Blvd Records in 2011.
